The AGM will be a breakfast event with registrations and networking starting at 8:30am and the AGM itself commencing at 9:30am.

One of the formal agenda items at the AGM will be the election of new board directors. There are four of the twelve board seats up for election this year. Nominations to join the board of directors are now open via the application package or, by contacting Wendy directly (wendy@ferniechamber.com). Representatives from member businesses and organizations in good standing are encouraged to put themselves forward to represent Fernie’s vibrant business community. Nominations to join the board close a week before the AGM on Friday, April 19.
Guest Speaker: Laura Gislason is the General Manager at Teck’s Elkview Operations. She is a professional engineer who has worked in both Mine Operations and Mine Engineering at the Elkview, Greenhills and Coal Mountain Operations. Originally from Winnipeg, she moved to Fernie in 2008 after spending ten years in Alberta attending university and working in the Alberta thermal coal industry. Passionate about sustainable mining in the Elk Valley, Laura is an advocate for the development of collaborative community-industry relationships. When not at work, Laura enjoys riding her mountain bike on the local Fernie trails and has recently started gravel biking as a way to explore the broader Elk Valley region.
Tickets for the event are on sale: $30 for members in good standing, and $35 for future members and the general public. Registration fee include a hot breakfast at the Bayleaf Restaurant. Tickets must be secured in advance of the event due to limited capacity.
