1:00 PM FERNIE AT WAR WALKING TOUR
FREE - Departs from the Fernie Museum, 491 2nd Ave.

Fernie entered the First World War in 1914 with optimism and a sense of national pride. Five years later, it emerged having experienced staggering losses and multiple controversies that threatened to tear the community apart. This walking tour features several buildings and places that figure prominently in Fernie's war story. 

3:00 PM TALK & PANEL DISCUSSION
FREE - at the Fernie Senior's Centre, 562 3rd Ave.

With Sarah Beaulieu, PhD Candidate at Simon Fraser University. Internment Archaeologist - Morrissey Internment Camp.

5:00 PM FILM SCREENING
$25 online in advance, includes dinner with director Q&A after the film, or $10 at the door (subject to availability). 
Doors open at 4:30 pm.
At the Vogue Theatre, 321, 2nd Ave.

Armistice Films and the Fernie Museum, in partnership with the Canadian First World War Internment Recognition Fund, present the documentary That Never Happened.

7:00 PM DINNER
$25 online in advance, includes film screening at the Vogue Theatre and director Q&A.
At the Fernie Legion, 551 1st Ave. 

Following the film, join us for a Ukrainian dinner at the Fernie Legion followed by talk and discussion with the film’s director and producer. 

TICKETS:

$25, includes film screening and dinner with director Q&A. BOOK ONLINE or available from the Fernie Museum.

Commemorating the 100th anniversary of the closing of the Morrissey Internment Camp, 1915-1918.

On October 21, 1918, the Morrissey Internment Camp closed, bringing an end to one of the Elk Valley’s darkest chapters. On October 21, 2018 - 100 years ago to the day - a series of events will be held to commemorate the closing of the camp.
