Description
Creston Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Kootenay Employment Services, is introducing a Business Development Series.
The series continues with Victoria Maxwell (BFA/BPP*). Victoria Maxwell is a recognized keynote speaker who uses humour and her personal story of recovery from mental illness to help make difficult mental health conversations more comfortable and transform negative beliefs. Her innovative approach increases understanding and awareness of workplace mental health issues and offers strategies and insight into the return-to-work process.
As the first Lived Experience Strategic Advisor at British Columbia Mental Health Substance Use Services, she leads various projects for the organization. In particular, she created and leads what is the first-ever Creative Writing program at BC's Forensic Psychiatric Hospital, with plans to expand to other sites. She’s been a blogger for Psychology Today magazine for over 15 years. The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health named her a leader in mental health, and her theatrical keynote “That’s Just Crazy Talk” is rated one of the top anti-stigma interventions in the country. She lives with bipolar disorder, anxiety, psychosis and complex PTSD.
